Reese Witherspoon stays warm and dry from the rain in a coat and boots while shopping on Friday (December 17) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Before hitting the shops, the 34-year-old actress stopped by the CAA office in Century City, where boyfriend Jim Toth works as an agent.

On Thursday, Reese again indulged in some retail therapy, visiting Barneys New York where she browsed the purse counter.

Windows 7 Party Signature Edition (13) by Shane's Flying Disc Show

My best private investigation provides set simply all of the three products to be applied safety. Not one of those three terrors need to be used neo-certainly. It is especially true for the registry problems which often persons don't consider make windows 7 faster many situations outcomes  damage inside the type of program.

Windows 7 Party Signature Edition (2) by Shane's Flying Disc Show

You may or may not like Microsoft as a company or any of its products, but let's face it: the majority of computer users own at least one computer running Windows.  So when there's a new Windows version being released, it definitely deserves some attention.  As Windows Vista nears completion, it's time to take a look at what this new operating system offers, and compare this with the upgrade cost to decide whether or not it's really worth it.

First of all, just like there was a Home and a Professional edition of Windows XP, there are multiple editions of Windows Vista.  While there are other versions for specific markets, the four main editions are the ones I will consider in this article: Home Basic and Home Premium (for home users), Business (for small and medium-sized businesses), and Ultimate (if you really want everything).

Windows Vista has a neat new feature that allows you to upgrade your version of Windows after you've bought Vista.  So if you get the Home Basic and realize you want some of the features of the Home Premium version, you can go through the entire process online, as long as you still have your original installation DVD.  (The required files for all versions of Windows Vista are on the same installation disc, so you don't need another disc.)

Home Basic
This is the version of Windows Vista with the fewest features, but it also has the lowest cost.  Basically, if you think of everything the Home Edition of Windows XP had, you have a basic idea of what Vista's Home Basic edition will have.  One important point to note about this version is that the fancy new Aero Glass interface you see in screenshots of Windows Vista will not be included in the Home Basic version.  While the graphical interface is indeed improved, it still lacks the Aero effects found in the other versions.

The Home Basic version will, in short, come with most of the things you absolutely need an operating system to do.  It has a new instant search, like Macs have, so you start seeing search results as soon as you start typing.  It also comes with Windows Defender and Windows Firewall, which will keep your computer relatively safe from intruders.  Internet Explorer 7 is also included (although that's not really a new feature, since you can get that for XP too).

Price: $99.95 for upgrade, $199 for full version

Home Premium
Most home users will probably want either the Home Basic or the Home Premium version of Vista.  In addition to the standard features of the Home Basic version, the Home Premium edition includes the Aero Glass graphical interface, which gives you a range of visual effects that make everything look a little more pleasing.  For laptops, it also comes with Windows Mobility Center, which lets you fine-tune your power options to give you all the battery life you can get out of your laptop.  And, if you ever used the Windows Media Center (in the Media Center Edition of Windows XP), it's available, with a few updates, on the Home Premium edition.

Price: $159 for upgrade, $239 for full version

Business
Everything offered on the Home Premium version is available in the Business edition, with the exception of the Windows Media Center.  In addition to these features, the Business edition offers advanced backup features to protect data you have stored on your computer.  It also gives you some extra networking options that businesses would find useful.

Home users probably wouldn't have much use for these features, but sometimes backups can be a good thing to keep.  If you like to keep backups of your files, you could consider the Business edition, or you could just go for the Ultimate edition.

Price: $199 for upgrade, $299 for full version

Ultimate
Well, it's pretty obvious what this one is.  The Ultimate edition has all of the features I mentioned above, not just a mix of them.  Both home users and business users can use the features they want; basically, you can do whatever you want with it, without being locked into one particular type of usage.  In addition to all of the other features, the Ultimate edition also comes with Windows BitLocker, Microsoft's own solution for encrypting your hard drive to protect the files on it.

Price: $259 for upgrade, $399 for full version

So those are the four main versions of Windows Vista.  And now for the important question: should you buy Windows Vista?  Well, it depends on how badly you want it.  If you're doing just fine with XP, there's probably no point in upgrading until you need to for some particular software you want to use.  On the other hand, Windows isn't exactly known for its price drops, so you might as well get it now if you know you're going to have to eventually.

If you were thinking of buying a new PC now (either a desktop or a laptop), you probably should just wait until Vista comes out, because you'll basically get a free upgrade.  Currently Microsoft has an upgrade offer that gives you a discount if you upgrade a computer you buy now to Vista later, but you're better off just waiting.

Defragment is always to check the file process and rejoin your divided files back again straight into consecutive portions. It may be time eating, however it is among the easiest tactics to enhance the compatibility of one's fresh Windows 7 and free Why is My Computer Slow laptop or computer is commenced.

Windows 7 Recovery Disc. It's a 143 MiB download, and in the standard ISO format, ready to burned directly to a CD or DVD. Don't wait until your PC crashes to download a copy! Download and burn your recovery disc today, so that when the time comes, you'll be ready!

With Windows 7 released and currently making its way to shelves in time for the holiday season, we've taken this opportunity to upgrade our copy of the official Windows System Recovery Discs for compatibility with Windows 7.

If you're like most PC users, you probably got Windows 7 with a new PC or laptop. And if you're like 99% of the population, you get your new machines from one of the major manufacturers. Dell, Acer, HP, Toshiba, Lenovo; who all have one thing in common: they don't give you a real Windows 7 installation disc with your purchase. Instead, they bundle what they call a “recovery disc” (that's if you're lucky - otherwise you'll have a recovery partition instead) with your machine and leave it at that.

It doesn't matter that you just paid a thousand dollars for a machine that comes with a valid Windows 7 license - your computer manufacturer just don't want to spend the money (or perhaps take on the responsibility) of giving you a Windows 7 installation DVD to accompany your expensive purchase.
The problem is, with Windows 7, the installation media serves more than one purpose. It's not just a way to get Windows installed, it's also the only way of recovering a borked installation. The Windows 7 DVD has a complete “recovery center” that provides you with the option of recovering your system via automated recovery (searches for problems and attempts to fix them automatically), rolling-back to a system restore point, recovering a full PC backup, or accessing a command-line recovery console for advanced recovery purposes.

Thankfully, Microsoft seems to have realized this problem, and have thankfully made a recovery disc for this purpose. It contains the contents of the Windows 7 DVD's “recovery center,” as we've come to refer to it. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows 7, and just serves as a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, one could re-create this installation media with freely-downloadable media from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK kit, a multi-gigabyte download); but it's damn-decent of Microsoft to make this available to Windows' users who might not be capable of creating such a thing on their own. You can make your own copy from Windows 7 Ultimate Edition, but now you have an easier alternative.

It's a 143 MiB download (165 MiB for the 64-bit version), and in the standard ISO format, ready to burned directly to a CD or DVD. Don't wait until your PC crashes to download a copy! Download and burn your recovery disc today, so that when the time comes, you'll be ready!
What it does: The Windows 7 Recovery Disc can be used to access a system recovery menu, giving you options of using System Restore, Complete PC Backup, automated system repair, and a command-line prompt for manual advanced recovery.
What it doesn't do: You cannot use the Windows 7 Recovery Disc to re-install Windows - it only fixes (not replaces!) Windows.
Why you need it: If you bought your PC from a major retailer, you didn't get this CD with your hefty purchase.

Instructions
1. Burn the .iso file to a CD using these instructions.( use UltraISO…)
2. When you want to use the recovery center, put the CD in your drive and boot from it. This is usually done by pressing F8 at startup, or changing the boot drive order in the BIOS.

The new line of computer systems will have a whole lot more new functions and run a lot smoother with the newest Windows operating process. Older personal computers that will only run XP will must preserve their old operating program. The new selection of PCs is significantly better how to fix blue screen were for Vista.

My Windows 7 Party Box by Michael Batfish

I recently installed the Windows Messenger Live on my computer at work and I have to say I was impressed by the newest version of the Messenger program. Windows Messenger Live comes with a cosmetic overhaul and a lot more goodies for you internet junkies to play with. The newest features include the ability to talk with people using Yahoo Messenger and a new share folder, which lets you share all your files with friends.

Windows Messenger Live is much like its predecessor, MSN messenger 7.5 except with a new appearance, a little more power, and a few awesome new options. Windows Messenger Live has put more power into its webcam option and integrated their conversation tool to make it one. This is for video calls with friends over Windows Messenger Live. Before I used Skype but in true Microsoft fashion anything new that people like and use with computers they make their own version.

Also in Windows Messenger Live they have include what they call a sharing folder. This is a folder that you setup with a friend on your list and you two can exchange files quickly and easily. You just drop the file into the folder and instantly your friend can access the file. This is an awesome feature that allows Windows Messenger Live users to share pictures, documents, and other information quickly.

I have used Windows Messenger Live for about 3 months now and haven’t encountered any problems with its functionality yet. I only use the product at work, so I don’t use the webcam and live chat options yet. I can’t vouch that they work the way Microsoft says they do, but I am sure they work like any other Windows product, good enough that we won’t complain too much.

I also like how Windows Messenger Live allows you to chat with your buddies from Yahoo Messenger. This is great. Now we don’t have to have two messenger programs open at once. This helps to free up system resources and also not clutter the desktop with unwanted crap. This is just another way Microsoft is trying to dominate the PC world, they are making other messengers obsolete, well ok not obsolete but you don’t need to use your yahoo as much and you are using the Microsoft version of messenger program instead of Yahoo’s.

Windows Messenger Live also has the ability to install the Messenger Plus add-on with Windows Messenger Live. Messenger Plus is an amazing add-on to the MSN messenger that had all sorts of great functions. These functions included hot keys to send quick messages, an option to have your contacts floating on your screen, and a boss key that hid MSN in your tool bar as a different ICON so no one was the wiser. Also it allowed you to change most of the functions of MSN messenger to the way you liked it, MSN felt more like it was personalized.

So if you have MSN 7.5 and the Plus add-on and you like it and can’t live without it, then don’t worry you can keep it with Windows Messenger Live. You will keep all your cool little tools and toys. I still use MSN 7.5 on my home PC, but I have gone to Windows Messenger Live for my work PC. I didn’t install the plus package to Windows Messenger Live because I don’t need all the crap that the Plus add-on offers while I am at work. I think that Windows Messenger Live offers a cleaner appearance and less junk than MSN Messenger 7.5. While I am working I don’t need all the add-ons.

You can download your own copies of either software and check them out. See for yourself what features each offer and decide which version is for you. You can download Windows Messenger Live here (http://get.live.com/messenger/overview) and the Plus add-on here (http://www.msgpluslive.net/). You can get MSN messenger 7.5 here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0B88CCBF-4C52-4347-AA71-87184A13AC1C&displaylang=en). You will then need to download the MSN Messenger plus addition after you have installed either of the two messengers.

Well go get your copy and try it out and find out for yourself what Microsoft is so proud of.  I have to admit I like the new version and will probably start using it on all my computers soon.

Limited Edition Burger King Windows 7 Whopper from Japan by Paxton Holley

The Libraries are a new addition in Microsoft’s latest operating system Windows 7. They have basically evolved from the MyDocuments folders which were limited by the fact that they lined to one absolute location on the computer system. Libraries on the other hand can combine and display the contents of multiple locations which is very helpful if photos, videos, music or documents are stored in different folders or even on different hard drives.

Libraries are by default however limited. It is for instance not possible to add a network location to a library. Trying to do so will result in the error message “This network location can’t be included because it is not indexed” or “This folder cannot be included because it is on a share that is not indexed”.

Microsoft has made available a command line utility that they appropriately named slutil.exe (no joke) which can be used to add network shares or locations to Windows 7 libraries.

A command line tool is usually not the most comfortable option as most users prefer to use graphical user interfaces.

That’s why the Win7 Library Tool was created by Zorn Software.

The software program that is compatible with Windows 7 provides the following functionality:

  • Add network (UNC or mapped drive) and any other un-indexed folders to libraries.
  • Backup library configuration, such that a saved set of libraries can be instantly restored at any point (like after a re-install of the OS or for transfer between multiple computers).
  • Create a mirror of all libraries (using symbolic links) in :\libraries.  This means you can reference all your files using a much shorter path, and also provides another entry-point to your files in many places in the Operating System (e.g. file open/save dialogs).
  • Change a library’s icon.

The program is controlled by the icons in the status bar. The leftmost icon loads the existing libraries of the operating system. Other controls can be used to import or export libraries, create and delete libraries as well as to edit existing libraries.

Win7 Library Tool can be downloaded from the developer’s website.

If you've got tried all but Home windows 7 continues to be operating sluggish, I highly recommend you endeavor to use fix blue screen of death to maintain your laptop or computer timely and make your House windows 7 fly again.

Windows 7 beta 64 bit by Irman Fauzi

As I think about the past, I remember many versions of Windows, some that were great, and others that left a lot to be desired. Most Windows operating systems have a few things that could make them better, and usually when Microsoft came out with the new version, it addressed many shortfalls. When Vista surfaced, I had to try it out. I installed Vista for business and my first impressions were mixed. I thought “this is a very pretty Operating system”, and then in a few minutes I was thinking “Where is everything?”

It reminded me of the change from Win 3.1 to Win 95 except for in 95 everything seemed to have a place, and things were where you expected them to be. It didn't take long for you to figure out where things were, and in no time you were an expert.

For a long time Windows has been tailored for business and home. Windows 3.11, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro were all business, with 95, 98, and XP Home being the home version.

When Windows 2000 surfaced, Microsoft tried to merge the two and they were mainly successful. Windows 2000 was surprisingly stable, except for those times where the occasional gamer would see the blue screen of death, because Microsoft seemed to forget to bring something from Windows 98 to make it work correctly.

Everything turned around when windows XP arrived. It was so easy to tell what Windows you needed. Home or Professional what else do you need? The XP versions were mostly identical except that Home could not connect to business-type computer networks. XP is also a very stable Operating system; just about any piece of software out there will run perfectly on XP.

Windows XP has a great mix of usability and prettiness. You can choose to have the “Blue XP Windows look”, or the Standard windows grey. When service pack 2 came out, it added lots of security features and added some nice graphical things like little boxes that popped up in the corner every now and then.

XP could do pretty much anything you wanted it to do, and it would do it well. I don't know if I can say that for Windows Vista.

It seems like Microsoft was focusing to much on making Vista pretty, and missed out on a great opportunity to make a great OS even greater. Vista has some compatibility issues with some software, and if you don't have the latest greatest hardware, you were left feeling like you were waiting a long time for something that used to be really fast.

The PC I was using to test Vista, a Pentium 4 3.3 GHz IBM with 1 GB ram, told me that my vista experience was rated at a 1. This was quite new to me as well. After running some tests, Vista tells me that I may have some problems running it, and that I should think about a hardware upgrade. XP would seem to run great on just about any computer I installed it on. It even ran on my old Pentium 2 300 laptop, and it would run like a champ. It would even boot faster than the Windows 98 that was on it before.

After a few days of testing Vista, I just had to go back. To me, Windows XP is all that I need for now. I may change my mind in a year or so. I'm sure there will be some piece of software that will be written specifically for Vista that will force an upgrade. Until then, I know that I have a trusty operating system waiting for me.

This is the sort of thing that I would think more than just a few would rail against, as it shows a general trend, which is to exaggerate the figures of something (whatever is being talked up at the time) by the use of actual facts, but drawing incomplete or skewed conclusions.

For example, a story in PC Advisor, a well respected magazine based in the U.K., places before us the factoid that Windows 7 usage is 7.5% of those that are tracked online. The first problem with this is that this is a quick snapshot type of figure, which has proven over time to fluctuate widely. The second problem is the fact that it has not been only 3 months, but in fact 9 months that Windows 7 has had to amass the usage figures quoted. Windows 7 was widely available as a beta and then a Release Candidate to allow free trial and speedy adoption.

This is not a slap down article against Windows 7. It could be about anything. It could be that someone uses a figure or two concerning Opera, my favorite browser, and yet by using the figures to slant things in a positive way, it still aggravates, because the correct picture is not being presented. It is no wonder that long ago, someone coined the phrase “Figures don’t lie, but any liar can figure”.

It is also not simply PC Advisor that is culpable here; so many places do exactly the same thing. It is the language used, not the actual data that is the problem. It is exactly the stuff that whips up the fanboys into a frenzy, on both sides of any question.

Microsoft’s Windows 7 has gained the same amount users in three months that Vista in nearly a year, says Net Applications.

If you look around, there are at least two other places that give different figures, each month, which directly contradict the Net Applications data. So, in this case, even the data is unsure. The very best that this sort of information can be used for is trending behavior, nothing else. There is nothing conclusive about it, though it is many times quoted as though it came on a stone tablet delivered in front of a burning bush.

~

Windows 7 finished January with a 7.5 percent usage share, a mark the little-loved Windows Vista didn’t attain until 11 months after its January 2007 debut.

“There’s no slowing of the Windows 7 growth curve,” said Vince Vizzaccaro, executive vice president with Net Applications, who also said that Microsoft ’s newest OS accounted for more than 10 percent of all machines that are online.

Windows 7’s share typically climbs on weekends and holidays, as more of the people online are running home computers, which are more likely to run the new operating system.

During January, Windows 7’s weekly averages increased steadily from 7.2 percent to 7.4 percent, then to 7.6 percent and finally to 8 percent in the final week. For the month, Windows 7 was up 1.8 percentage points, its second-biggest one-month increase.

As in recent months, both Windows XP and Windows Vista lost share in January as Windows 7 gained ground. Windows XP slid to 66.3 percent, down 1.46 percentage points, a new single-month record that erased the 1.43-point decline of November 2009.

Vista, meanwhile, lost 0.5 of a percentage point to end at 17.4 percent. Vista has now lost usage share three months in a row, and in four of the last five months, solidifying the trend that points to a permanent decline as users abandon it for Windows 7.

If the trends of the last three months persist, Windows 7 will overtake Vista as the second-most popular operating system - and grab the No. 2 spot behind XP - in June.

This isn’t the first time that NetApplications has compared the uptake of Windows 7 with its predecessor. Last November, Vizzaccaro said that Windows 7 had reached a 4 percent share in just three weeks, a mark Vista needed five months to hit.

Reading through these paragraphs closely, you see that some of the figures cannot be trusted. They are sometimes referring to figures extrapolated since last May, and sometimes only since the release date in October. Also, there is no breakout for the number of copies of Windows 7 which are (now) Release Candidate copies, or even the 90-day trials which Microsoft hands out freely (the Enterprise edition trial ISO).  We also don’t know how many of those RC and trial copies will actually convert to Windows 7 once they become useless. I am not saying that the figures are distorted purposely, because no one could prove that it is occurring purposely each time.

~

The bulk of Windows 7’s gains have come at XP’s expense, not surprising since the eight-year-old-and-counting OS is the most popular on the planet by a huge margin.

Since Windows 7’s late October 2009 debut, Windows XP’s share has dropped nearly three times more than Vista’s.

Apple’s Mac OS X climbed slightly last month, finishing December with a 5.13 percent share after an increase of just 0.02 of a percentage point. It was the first gain posted by Mac OS X in NetApplications’ data since October.

The small rise is no indicator of Mac sales, of course, which Apple announced last week had set a new single-quarter record of nearly 3.4 million units worldwide.

Vizzaccaro again pointed out the mobile category as the one to watch. “This is the beginning of a shift to a lot more mobile operating systems on the web,” he said.

“The trend from desktop to mobile, month to month, is a curve that looks like it’s going to continue to go up.”

In January, mobile operating systems powered 1.5 percent of all the hardware that browsed the web during the month, Vizzaccaro said, an increase of 0.13 of a percentage point over December.

“The iPhone and iPod Touch are doing extremely well, ” said Vizzaccaro. “So is Symbian and even BlackBerry. But the Android curve seems to have peaked during the month.”

He was at a loss to explain the flattening of the growth of Google’s Android operating system, although he mentioned the introduction of the Nexus One and the resulting complaints when customers weren’t able to reach support.

“A lack of customer support may work okay with beta software, but not with a mobile phone,” Vizzaccaro said. “No-one wants to wait two weeks for an email reply to a question about their phone.”

NetApplications will start tracking Apple’s iPad web usage when it starts shipping in late March, said Vizzaccaro. He was pessimistic that the tablet would show a measurable share for some time, however.

NetApplications measures operating system usage by tracking the machines that browse the 40,000 sites it monitors for clients, which results in a pool of about 160 million unique visitors each month. It then weights share by the estimated size of each country’s internet population.

Only in the very last paragraphs do these articles generally make their disclaimers, which are necessary for the lawyers and bean counters at the publications, but also so that the readership will continue when the figures change completely next time around. (back to the “Figures don’t lie…” drawing board)
